ABOUT THIS SHOW:
In their signature style blending acrobatics, dance, and theatrical storytelling, Aura CuriAtlas Physical Theatre will perform selections from their DREAM LOGIC repertoire, followed by the Chicago/Midwest premiere of their newest work, The Fool and The World. DREAM LOGIC is a curious collection of magical stories that invite the audience to accompany each quirky character on an exciting journey. The Fool and The World is inspired by the 22 Major Arcana cards of a Tarot deck will be accompanied live by composer Sophia Serghi. The trio of performers takes on the characters and situations depicted in the cards, bringing them to life through acrobatics and dance.
Blending dance, theatre, and acrobatics to tell stories, the company keeps the qualities of lightness (Aura), strength (Atlas), and play (Curiosity) at the center. AC values a relationship with their audience that is based on community and an easy exchange of ideas. Their lightheartedness, athleticism, and reliance on physical storytelling make their stories accessible to audiences of many different ages and backgrounds.
Aura CuriAtlas was last seen in Chicago in the summer of 2019 performing A Life With No Limits as part of the PHYSICAL Theatre Festival. They have performed in 16 U.S. cities including features on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage (Washington D.C.), twice at the INTERSECTIONS Festival (Washington D.C.), the New Year New York Festival (New York City), and the Richmond Dance Festival (Richmond, Virginia). In November 2019, AC will travel to Cyprus to headline several performances sponsored by the U.S. Embassy of Cyprus and the Cyrus Ministry of Education.
“Aura CuriAtlas has developed a unique, intensely physical brand of performance without words, incorporating circus and dance techniques into narratives that are eye-popping in their execution and touching in their meaning."
